Capturing the family together

Looking for family portrait photography that captures eye-rolls, giggles and the exact moment dad realises he’s been photobombing since 1999? You’ve come to the right place. At Jolley Productions, we capture relaxed, fun and naturally beautiful family photography portraits across the North West and beyond.

Whether you want polished images for the mantelpiece or a playful lifestyle session that tells your family’s story, we’ll make the whole experience enjoyable — even for the child determined to refuse smiling on principle.

If you’ve ever searched for a “photographer near me for family”, you’ll know how important it is to find someone who makes the process easy, relaxed and actually enjoyable. That’s exactly what we aim to deliver.

What we capture

Classic

Classic family portraits

Beautiful, composed images for frames and greeting cards. Think timeless, flattering lighting and thoughtful poses that still feel natural.

Lifestyle

Lifestyle family photography portraits

Candid, documentary-style shots of your family’s everyday life — baking, muddy walks or full-blown Lego wars. A perfect way to tell your family’s story.

Generational

Generational portraits

Capture grandparents, parents and children together. These are the photos you’ll be grateful for in 20 years when you’re trying to remember who wore that knitted hat.

Older man in shirt and blue tie cradles a baby in his arms while gazing thoughtfully out of frame at a wedding.

Siblings

Sibling sessions

The rivalry, the bond, the secret handshake. We turn those dynamics into images that are equal parts sweet and hilarious.

Occasions

Seasonal shoots & special occasions

Christmas, weddings, birthdays, christenings, family reunions or that summer holiday you want immortalised in glorious megapixels.

Bride and groom celebrate with their children in front of a stone building, arms raised in excitement and huge smiles all around.

Why choose Jolley Productions for your family portrait photography?

Families choose us because we make sessions fun, efficient and full of personality. Clients often tell us how relieved they are that their kids actually smiled, how natural their photos look and how much they enjoyed the experience.

Small friendly team

You’ll work with a familiar face (or two). We’re a sociable, down-to-earth team that remembers names, pets and what makes your family tick. That personal touch makes a huge difference to how comfortable everyone feels in front of the camera.

Relaxed, playful approach

No awkward, forced smiles. We focus on bringing out real connection — hugs, tickles, chaos and the occasional “family stare of doom” (which we’ll absolutely capture for comic relief).

Mobile studio

Hate traffic or can’t get Granny out of her slippers? No problem. We bring a portable studio to your home, a local park, or your favourite location. If you prefer a studio setting, we’ve got that covered, too.

Environmental portraiture

Fancy your family photographed among the trees, at the beach, in your kitchen mid-cereal-crumb chaos or on the urban streets you love? Using real locations helps us create portraits that feel authentic, lived-in and personal.

Multi-purpose shoots

Need family portraits and a professional headshot? Combine sessions to save time.

What to expect from your shoot

We keep things simple, relaxed and efficient — without the stiffness of a passport photo queue.

Step 1

Brief & logistics

We’ll discuss your goals, preferred style (classic, environmental, playful), outfits and any “tricky” family members (you know who they are). This can be on the phone, by email or over tea.

We’ll confirm timing, location and simple prep tips, including clothing coordination and what to bring.

Step 2

Shoot day

If you’ve chosen our mobile studio, we’ll arrive with everything needed and set up quickly and neatly — no drama or intrusive cables across the living room (well, minimal).

To warm up, we’ll start with low-pressure prompts like games, songs and silly faces to help everyone relax. Most of the best photos happen when people forget the camera is there.

We’ll capture a mix of posed portraits and candid moments, different groupings and individual shots for everyone (yes, even Uncle Dave).

Step 3

Editing & delivery

We carefully edit your images to create a consistent, polished set of family portraits — natural tones, flattering lighting, and a little Jolley magic.

Your final images are delivered via an online gallery, with optional upgrades for prints and albums.

Tips for a successful family portrait session

(Aka: how to avoid meltdown)

Dress comfortably

Coordinated colours work better than matching outfits. Avoid loud logos and overly fussy clothing for younger children.

Bring snacks and bribery

A favourite toy, snacks or a small reward can work wonders.

Schedule smart

Booking around naps and mealtimes is key, and golden hour brings the most flattering light for outdoor shoots.

Be real

The best photos come from genuine moments — laughter, movement and connection. You don’t need perfection to create beautiful images, and the best photos are often a little silly.

Testimonials

Highly recommend! Chris went the extra mile by scouting out good spots before our wedding day and making sure he was around to capture the key moments. We are really impressed with the quality of the photos and we’re surprised by the shots he took as we didn’t notice him taking photos throughout the day! Quick turnaround, and also super friendly and responsive to emails. The drone shot was a crowd favourite and made for some great photos!

I contacted Chris because I was looking to get some portrait-style photographs taken for my website and promotional material. He was very responsive to and positive about my enquiry and interested to understand the nature of my work. Chris brought his studio to me so I didn’t have to go anywhere and, at the actual photo-shoot itself, he soon put me at my ease and handled everything in a professional and friendly manner. He had some great ideas about what might work with attention to the details that would make a difference. I was able to relax and have a bit of fun and I enjoyed the whole process.

Chris turned the photographs around quickly and sent me a bundle that I can work with. I have to say the quality of Chris’s work is fantastic and I’ve been surprised by and delighted with the results. I wanted the photographs to show me as I am and he has captured that really well. I would have no hesitation in recommending Chris and his photography. He combines high quality work with a warm, friendly and professional approach.

We hired Chris for my daughter’s wedding photography. He did a fabulous job and we’re thrilled with the pictures! They arrived in a beautiful presentation box with a USB stick. Chris was highly professional, would recommend!

We recently used Chris for my son’s wedding photographs and can not praise him highly enough.
His advice and planning before and during the wedding day were very much appreciated and made for some outstanding photographs. He spent hours during the day taking in some unusual shots during the wedding ceremony and later at the reception. Some of the expressions of various people he caught on camera are amazing.
His attention to detail throughout the day was done in a friendly manner and did not interfere with everything that was going on.
We waited in anticipation for the photographs to arrive and were blown away by the results.
I strongly recommend Jolley Productions.

Chris recently stepped in to support me in photographing a wedding when last-minute complications came up. He was fantastic and just the kind of person you’d want at your side. Highly recommended!
